This powerful strategy is the featured Tip this month

After using this tip, I was able to call my wonder full Financial Advisor/Supporter/Friend, Kathy Lester at Scott & Stringfellow, to offer her my emotional support and appreciation for all she does.

With every crisis, there is also great opportunity to learn, grow and become more connected with what is true and important in life.

(1) Tip

Look Fear in the Eye ~

When faced with fear that feels terrorizing, resist the temptation to escape into addiction (alcohol, food, gambling, medication).

Look Fear directly in the Eye by asking the question:
“What is the worst that could happen?”
Then, explore the options.
What would you do?
How would you do it?
Who would help you?
What resources would you access?
Even if death turns out to be the worst thing ~ What then?
No more fear! Amazing!

A Personal Story
A few years ago as I was leaving my house, a feeling of deep gratitude came over me. I was struck by how fortunate I am to live in such an awesome place.

Then, suddenly, the fear that I could lose my home and everything in it to a fire arose in my mind. I could feel the fear in my chest and gut, even though there was no imminent danger of a fire present.

I thought, “What’s the worst that could happen if I lost everything and had to start over?” That question set my mind scrambling for an answer. Within seconds, I knew where I would go, how I would start over and who would be there to help and support me.

Once the worst was faced, and I knew I would survive, I felt even more awe and appreciation for the present moment.

Looking fear in the eye actually brought me to a better place!

Fear is a survival mechanism built into the human system. The purpose of Fear is to alert us to potential danger. Once you know how you will survive, fear has done its job. Fear can relax and you can feel freer to enjoy the moment.

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself” Winston Churchill

(4) Spotlight on You

Sandra Ellard is a registered nurse who has attended the Reiki I and EFT 1 & 2 Workshops . She immediately applied these techniques to benefit herself and others. Sandra shares her experiences using these techniques with her son and the 'scaredy' cat below. Thanks for Sharing, Sandra!

"Hi Aila,

I just wanted to give you an update on how I have been doing with Reiki this week.

I woke up early with a burst of energy and have been going strong all week, which is really unusual for me! I have been using Reiki to keep a cold at bay and have used the combination of Reiki and EFT to work through a forgiveness issue that came up and it worked really well.

I also taught this to my son and have been doing it on him myself and his pain level has gone down to a 3 from a 10. He is really excited about it and has been experimenting with it all week. I also looked up crystal children after that was mentioned at the class and the description fits him perfectly...even his illness and auditory processing problems fit in it. I told him I think he is special and he is a crystal child and he just beamed like his spirit was so happy I recognized it.

I also had a really good chance to help one of our cats this week. We have an asthmatic cat that we have to take to the vet for shots every so often and this just terrifies her. She was in such a panic after I put her in the carrier that she couldn't breathe. Bethany suggested I try Reiki on her so all the way to the vet I did it. By the time we got to the vet, he wondered why I thought she needed the shot so bad! She was breathing so good and it was the calmest trip we ever had there.

So I just wanted to thank you and count me in on Reiki 2! And my son wants to know if
I can take him next time!"

"I would love for you to share this story. I can't wait to see what happens next!"

Sandra

(5) Q & A

Q - I have very little self-confidence. How do I gain the courage and confidence to step up, speak out, and take risks in life?

A - I hear the passion and power of the soul’s purpose pushing forth to be expressed in your question. In our spirit journey, when the soul pushes forward, the ego pushes back out of fear of what will happen if we step out and speak up.

This has been true in my inner journey and for my coaching clients. You may find this month’s tip helpful. Ask the question, “What is the ‘worst’ that would happen if I step up or speak out?” This can reveal the nature of the threat the ego senses. Then, decide how you would survive that threat.

Meditation, journaling and EFT can also be useful in uncovering, exploring and releasing fear.

Often, the fear is rooted in early childhood experience. When this is the case, the fear can feel too big, terrorizing. In my experience, finding an experienced counselor or coach to guide you through this inner terrain is usually needed to feel safe enough to explore and release these core fears.

"What you are afraid to do is a clear indication of the next thing you need to do." Ralph Waldo Emerson
