“In every life we have some trouble, but when you worry you make it double. Don't Worry. Be Happy.” Bobby McFerrin
When I was speaking in Canada last month, I went to the hotel gym the first morning. The TV on the wall blared one horrendous news story after another at me in rapid succession. My body started tensing up. I couldn't stay there even 5 minutes. I had to get out!
I don't have a TV... no problem; it's everywhere... restaurants, the gym, even in the elevator of a local office building. If you are not a worrier, there are lots of people in the world, who will help you find something to worry about.
All the talk about the world ending in 2012 finally got to one of my coaching clients. It started with anxiety & built into full blown panic. Are you worried about 2012? Watch this video
for a new perspective.
A future focused mind worrys. The ego's job is to keep us safe & alive. Stress is all about not feeling in control. Any future event is fertile ground for stress, since your mind can't come up with anything that can control the future. A worrying mind goes around and around the same thoughts with no solution. This builds a case for fear, anxiety & ultimately panic! Trying not to worry doesn't work. What can you do? Here are two tips...1)
Put that future oriented mind to work in a positive direction by creating a Vision of the future you want
rather than worrying about the one you fear.
Start off this year creating a vision of what you want in your life. Take the first step in making the vision real by puttin images of your goals & desires on a posterboard. Focus on it every morning, at times during the day & before bed. Click this link

. Your unconscious mind actually helps you get what you want through a reticular activating system, which is triggered by these images. 2) Be Grateful.
When you find yourself worrying make a decision to think about one thing
you are grateful for in that moment. Your mind likes to solve problems & answer questions. It doesn't care if they are positive or negative. So, when your mind is working on the impossible task of figuring out how to control the future, give it a positive question to work on.... What am I grateful for right now?
You will be amazed at how once you "prime the pump" with one thing, your mind begins to make a list of others. In no time you heart is bursting with joy instead of fear.
I’m visioning a Very Happy 2012
full of gratitude for everyone!Love & Warm :)))
