My Dear Friend
You’ve been wondering what happened to that Well-Being Newsletter you signed up for, haven’t you?
Well, I apologize for the long delay in getting it out to you. But now the technology is humming and we are on track for keeping in touch on a regular basis!
You will notice that there is a new name and format to the Newsletter. I want you to be able to pick and choose what is most interesting to you.
We'll start off with a brief Exercise in each issue and then go on to an Article, Coaching Lesson and Announcements where you can click-a-link to read just what you choose.
Let’s get started!
Today’s Awareness Exercise
Be Here Now:
Take a deep breath ~ how are you, Right Now? Be aware of all the physical conditions you are experiencing, Right Now. Feel the pressure and support of the chair on your bottom and back. Feel the connection of your feet with the floor. Be aware of the temperature on your skin, the feel of your clothing, the sounds around you, and what your hands are touching.
Be Here Now!
Take a minute or two several times a day to just be present with where you are, what you are seeing, feeling, and experiencing. Practice being fully present in the moment.
Benefit: Your mind will begin to be more present and focused.
Do you get discouraged sometimes with what appear to be obstacles in your path?
Here is a parable that may change your perspective:
"The Obstacle in Our Path
In ancient times, a king had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the king for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the big stone out of the way.
Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. On approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. As the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been.
The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the king indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many others never understand. Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve one's condition."
It takes one to know one!
Everything outside of you is a reflection of what is inside of you. When you find yourself critical of someone else, ask yourself the question: “In what way do I have this quality that I am being critical about.”
This is hard to see sometimes.
By the same token, when you are admiring someone else, look inside and find that quality also. The person you admire is just a mirror of the marvelous qualities you have.
As I always say: It takes one to know one!
